At the end of every year,It seems like everyone makes a top 10 list of movies that they enjoyed. It is funny to see all of the different lists and who likes what or "you liked that ?".No one list is the same, and even the Top movie critics have some variations from other critics. What you like, and what I like can and will be somewhat different.Just like our interests in t.v. shows, music, food ect. That is just the way we are made up. How boring would it be if we all liked the same things. Some people like one Genre and only limit themselves to it.like Horror or SCI-FI,Westerns ect. and some like The Hollywood Blockbusters, others like myself enjoy Independent movies. I try to watch all types of movies and not to limit myself from experiencing different stories or points of view.
I counted around 85+ movies that i watched in the year 2013.I try to watch a movie a day.On some days, i do not get to watch any movies. But on a good weekend it may be 2 to 3!
Here is my list, but it could and will change because I still have not watched around 12 movies that I really wanted to watch.and they could easily take some of the top 10 spots. So here it is.Drum roll please....
MY TOP 10 MOVIES OF 2013
1. Sound City
2. The Place Beyond the Pines
3. Mud
4. Fast and Furious 6
5.A Single Shot
6. Charlie Countrymen
7. As I Lay Dying
8.The Butler
9. The Hunt
10. Catching Fire

goodbye 2013!
So i had so many plans for The Getting Spot blog, I was going to post every day add videos and just really put so much energy into it.I was working nights at the Hospital in medical records. I was only working 4 or 5 hrs. a night and It was cool and i had so much time for watching movies and blogging. Also around that time, I was also bugging my boss about more hours and I really wanted to just be able to work and be able to provide insurance for myself and my 3 kids.Fast forward to the last week of August.and the plans I had for this blog and what i was going to do,with it, changed over night.
A fellow coworker who worked during the day and was in charge of Birth Certificates, decided to put in her notice. It was now an opportunity for me to switch and take over that roll of Birth Certificate clerk. So that's what i have been doing lately,I decided to take a break for a bit on the blog. But i have missed it so much. I apologize to any FAN of the blog, for not blogging at all during that time.
Even though I enjoyed taking time off i really missed it.
some of the questions i have since September has been.
1. I see people looking at the blog.the numbers are rising but where do i go from here ???
2. why haven't I made any money from it?
3. why do i not have any followers?
4.should i give it up? Is there any value?
5.what is my voice on here?
well i guess,It really comes down to the fact that I really missed doing this blog and sharing and being a small voice about movies and web series.
So goodbye 2013 and hello 2014! stick around, lets see what happens.

Enough Said
Taken from the Youtube about page:
A divorced and single parent, Eva
(Julia Louis Dreyfus) spends her days enjoying work as a masseuse but
dreading her daughter's impending departure for college. She meets
Albert (James Gandolfini) - a sweet, funny and like-minded man also
facing an empty nest. As their romance quickly blossoms, Eva befriends
Marianne (Catherine Keener), her new massage client. Marianne is a
beautiful poet who seems "almost perfect" except for one prominent
quality: she rags on her ex-husband way too much. Suddenly, Eva finds
herself doubting her own relationship with Albert as she learns the
truth about Marianne's Ex. ENOUGH SAID is a sharp, insightful comedy
that humorously explores the mess that often comes with getting involved
again.

DeAndre shot this with a Canon t3i and a few lenses, a few tripods, a Zoom H4n and a sliding rack.

Set The Table -web series
SET THE TABLE is about the strained relationship of a middle aged couple Becca (Deborah Adair) and Mark Peterson (John Alston) with Becca coping with death of her father, with uncertainties in the workplace and an unexpected empty nest, this puts strains on their relationship.Using the power of cooking, and its ability to bring people together is a central part of the web series.I really liked watching this web series and look forward to watching more of Set The Table season 2 .I also know that the family table is such important place for families to connect and with everything demanding all of our time.We need to make that a priority in our families,to at least have one meal together each day.
and i think that Deborah is doing a great job in reminding us of that.No matter what age we are.or our relationship status.
Each episode also includes a recipe so you can learn to make the Yummy dishes you see.with instructional videos included on the web page and on Pinterest.
Enjoy episode one and go Cook something today for the family!

Short Term 12 Official Trailer
I wanted to see this movie as soon as I heard about it And based on the Trailer and reviews i have read. This is a must see/got to see movie for me! Movies just like Short Term 12 are the ones that Independent Films are all about and these are the ones that I love the most!.They tell a story and move you,and really suck you into the lives of the characters.
Short Term 12 is already a Grand Jury winner and audience awards at SXSW and the audience award for best narrative feature Sunday as the Los Angeles Film Festival . Brie Larson gives a moving Oscar worthy (my opinion) performance as Grace.
In Theaters August 23rd
The following is taken from the YouTube about page:
Short Term 12 is told through the eyes of Grace (Brie Larson) , a twenty-something supervisor at a foster-care facility for at-risk teenagers. Passionate and tough, Grace is a formidable caretaker of the kids in her charge -- and in love with her long-term boyfriend and co-worker, Mason.
But Grace's own difficult past -- and the surprising future that suddenly presents itself -- throw her into unforeseen confusion, made all the sharper with the arrival of a new intake at the facility: a gifted but troubled teenage girl with whom Grace has a charged connection.
While the subject matter is complex and often dark, this lovingly realized film finds truth -- and humor -- in unexpected places.

I hope you will enjoy watching these just as much as I have. and check out and follow Joe Wilson and watch the other Playshorts come to life.I hope Joe will have as much success as the Playhouse 90 series had.

American Detours -series
When classic rides meet classic drives
Everyone who owns a classic has their own favorite road. It's off the beaten path. It's not the shortest distance between point A and point B. But it's a great ride. On American Detours we'll be highlighting some of these wonderful detours. Pointing out some great pit stops along the way.

Voyage Trekkers Season 2 Trailer
Voyage Trekkers Season Two starts on May 1st! I was just introduced to this Web Series via email from Nathan Blackwell the creator of Voyage Trekkers. I have to say that I am really excited to view all of Season one.I really like shows like Star Trek and the other space type T.V. shows,so this is going to be fun.Let the binge-watching begin!
Taken from the email....
Voyage Trekkers Returns For Season 2 On May 1st.
“We’re so excited to show everyone Season Two,” says creator Nathan
Blackwell. “From the bridge set, to scoring the season premiere with a
fifty-nine-piece orchestra, we’ve tried to raise the bar on what people
expect from independent sci-fi web series.”
VOYAGE TREKKERS is
a comedy web series about the worst crew in the galaxy, lead by the
charismatic but self-centered Captain Sunstrike (Adam Rini), with the
help of the unfazed first officer Commander Powell (Logan Blackwell),
and the exasperated Doctor Rena (Gabrielle Van Buren). In July of 2011
Season One was released with ten weekly episodes, garnering both awards
and acclaim for it's zany and unpredictable style of humor, much like Galaxy Quest meets It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Created
by Nathan Blackwell and Craig Michael Curtis, the show is produced by
their production company Squishy Studios and Executive Producer Tray
Goodman's Goodman Creative Minds Media. The Visual Effects Supervisor
is David Stipes whose credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Battlestar Galactica (original series), and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Big Bang Theory show floor plans
Spanish based interior designer IƱaki Aliste Lizarralde
had the same thought as us, and decided to do something for himself
creating this incredible series of highly detailed floor plans from some
of our favorite television shows. The collection includes the likes of
The Simpson, Dexter, Friends, Seinfeld, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang
Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and a handful others. Each of the floor
plans is highly detailed, and not only includes the architectural side
of things, but also goes into immense furnishing details really bringing
these television shows to life. As a huge fan of a lot of these shows,
this was definitely a project we could appreciate the amount of time and
effort that was put in. Check out the floor plans below.

thoughts on sharing crowdfunding supporter lists
I wonder what your thoughts and opinions are, as to the Idea of a filmmaker sharing his/her list of supporters for Indiegogo or Kickstarter projects to other filmmakers?
Should this be done? how is it different than having your information sold by companies and you receiving a Spam type email?
would you do it as a filmmaker?Would you want this as an artist trying to raise Crowdfunding support?
Is this against the Indiegogo and Kickstarter laws?
would it be more effective that way, or would a recommendation from a successful campaign to its supporters be the best route?
Just a thought that popped into my head and wanted to generate talk and feedback.
leave your thoughts and comments below.

Please support this Kickstarter project "THE BOYS AT THE BAR" a Richard Dutcher film
I had a great opportunity to sit in a forum by Richard Dutcher in 2002 called "The Art of Filmmaking" and have been a big fan and supporter of his Films.I even have an autographed VHS of his movie "God's Army"! When I asked Richard for an autograph he said "Sure, but it isn't worth anything" I have to argue with that! As a lover and fan of his movies,he is up there with all of the great directors and movie makers of our time! (my opinion) I even gave him my Resume ,with hopes of maybe getting the opportunity to work on a film crew with him.I never received that call, I should have persued that more, but maybe someday! But I consider him a great filmmaker/actor and friend. Richard and his team have another great project in it's final stages ,that needs our support.

Rest in Peace Mr. Roger Ebert
We lost a great guy today, and a true champion of Movies! Mr. Roger Ebert, the top Movie Critic of my time! If he liked a movie, chances were great, that I was also going to love it.If he hated it,I was most likely also, going to hate it.We were on the same wave length, when it came to movies. He is a guy I liked to follow on twitter, and he loved posting captions for The New Yorker comics.
When hunting for movies a rental store ,I would always look at a VHS or DVD cover to see it included a review from Mr. Ebert on it.A sign of a great movie! Your Stamp of Approval!I watched every review on your TV show with everyone in America Siskel and Ebert at the Movies. You Sir,will be missed by all ,and by Me one of your biggest fans. I do this blog partly because of you.I hope i can learn to write great Movie reviews like you. I give you two thumbs up!
Here is his last tweet that was for his farewell article in the Chicago Sun Times.
April 2,2013
Thank you. Forty-six years ago on April 3, 1967, I became the film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. Some of you have read my reviews and columns and even written to me since that time. Others were introduced to my film criticism through the television show, my books, the website, the film festival, or the Ebert Club and newsletter. However you came to know me, I'm glad you did and thank you for being the best readers any film critic could ask for.
Typically, I write over 200 reviews a year for the Sun-Times that are carried by Universal Press Syndicate in some 200 newspapers. Last year, I wrote the most of my career, including 306 movie reviews, a blog post or two a week, and assorted other articles. I must slow down now, which is why I'm taking what I like to call "a leave of presence."
What in the world is a leave of presence? It means I am not going away. My intent is to continue to write selected reviews but to leave the rest to a talented team of writers handpicked and greatly admired by me. What's more, I'll be able at last to do what I've always fantasized about doing: reviewing only the movies I want to review.
At the same time, I am re-launching the new and improved Rogerebert.com and taking ownership of the site under a separate entity, Ebert Digital, run by me, my beloved wife, Chaz, and our brilliant friend, Josh Golden of Table XI. Stepping away from the day-to-day grind will enable me to continue as a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, and roll out other projects under the Ebert brand in the coming year.
Ebertfest, my annual film festival, celebrating its 15th year, will continue at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, my alma mater and home town, April 17-21. In response to your repeated requests to bring back the TV show "At the Movies," I am launching a fundraising campaign via Kickstarter in the next couple of weeks. And gamers beware, I am even thinking about a movie version of a video game or mobile app. Once completed, you can engage me in debate on whether you think it is art.
And I continue to cooperate with the talented filmmaker Steve James on the bio-documentary he, Steve Zaillian and Martin Scorsese are making about my life. I am humbled that anyone would even think to do it, but I am also grateful.
Of course, there will be some changes. The immediate reason for my "leave of presence" is my health. The "painful fracture" that made it difficult for me to walk has recently been revealed to be a cancer. It is being treated with radiation, which has made it impossible for me to attend as many movies as I used to. I have been watching more of them on screener copies that the studios have been kind enough to send to me. My friend and colleague Richard Roeper and other critics have stepped up and kept the newspaper and website current with reviews of all the major releases. So we have and will continue to go on.
At this point in my life, in addition to writing about movies, I may write about what it's like to cope with health challenges and the limitations they can force upon you. It really stinks that the cancer has returned and that I have spent too many days in the hospital. So on bad days I may write about the vulnerability that accompanies illness. On good days, I may wax ecstatic about a movie so good it transports me beyond illness.
I'll also be able to review classics for my "Great Movies" collection, which has produced three books and could justify a fourth.
For now, I am throwing myself into Ebert Digital and the redesigned, highly interactive and searchable Rogerebert.com. You'll learn more about its exciting new features on April 9 when the site is launched. In addition to housing an archive of more than 10,000 of my reviews dating back to 1967 we will also feature reviews written by other critics. You may disagree with them like you have with me, but will nonetheless appreciate what they bring to the party. Some I recruited from the ranks of my Far Flung Correspondents, an inspiration I had four years ago when I noticed how many of the comments on my blog came from foreign lands and how knowledgeable they were about cinema.
We'll be recruiting more critics and it is my hope that some of the writers I have admired over the years will be among them. We'll offer many more reviews of Indie, foreign, documentary and restored classic revivals. As the space between broadcast television, cable and the internet morph into a hybrid of content, we will continue to spotlight the musings of Pulitzer Prize-winning TV critic Tom Shales, as well as the blog "Scanners" by Jim Emerson, who I first met at Microsoft when he edited Cinemania. The Ebert Club newsletter, under editor Marie Haws of Vancouver, will be expanded to give its thousands of subscribers even bigger and better benefits.
For years I devoutly took every one of my tear sheets, folded them and added them to a pile on my desk. The photo above shows the height of that pile in 1985 as it appeared on the cover of my first book about the movies published by my old friends John McMeel and Donna Martin of Andrews & McMeel. Today, because of technology, the opportunities to become bigger, better and reach more people are piling up too. The fact that we're re-launching the site now, in the midst of other challenges, should give you an idea how important Rogerebert.com and Ebert Digital are to Chaz and me. I hope you'll stop by, and look for me. I'll be there.
So on this day of reflection I say again, thank you for going on this journey with me. I'll see you at the movies.

This interesting piece goes behind the scenes and shows us the end of film for theaters as digital projectors replace the

movies in the late 1800s.

Lord Snowdon and Britt Ekland.
In late 1964, when he was at the height of his success, Peter Sellers filmed a series of vaudevillian sketches with a group of wealthy and socially elite friends. He edited the scenes together into a movie and called it I Say I Say I Say. (see more info at the below link)

Twenty Twelve T.V. show Trailer
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone - Official Trailer
Starring Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Olivia Wilde, Steve Buscemi, James Gandolfini and Alan Arkin. In theaters March 15.
Documentary Short on 'The Empire Strikes Back' Found footage
I just love this! as a big fan of not only all of the Star Wars movies but movies in general.we can now watch excerpts from the lost 1980 Michel Parbot documentary with almost 30 minutes of never before seen behind-the-scenes footage from The Empire Strikes Back!
including interviews with the director Irvin Kershner and stars Mark Hamill
and Harrison Ford. There's some great scenes with the cast and crew
shooting in the freezing cold in Norway, acting as the ice planet Hoth, and dealing with the creatures like Tauntauns and
Wampas. I wish featurettes and documentaries like this on
films from decades ago weren't so hard to come by,but thanks to YouTube and other web sources we can enjoy them today.

Stranded a book by Jeff Probst and Chris Tebbetts
Survivor fans! Jeff Probst wrote a book! besides being the Host of the Hit Reality Show Survivor, and also having his own Talk Show, now Jeff can add Author to his many credits. Is there anything Jeff can't do?I love Survivor and can't wait to get this book.My 3 kids are all excited about reading it also.
Jeff wrote this book for kids But Adults are loving it also.I remember an interview he did (see below) he said he had the idea for this book, when kids who where fans of Survivor where now actually growing up and playing on Survivor.
taken from the interview he had with Entertainment Weekly Assistant Managing Editor Dalton Ross
EW: Bonus Question That is Not Really a Question: Big week for you, sir! Your book Stranded just hit stores as well. Give us one reason to go spend our hard earned money on it.
PROBST: STRANDED is for middle grade kids, probably 8-12 years old. Though I’m hearing 7 year olds are reading it) It’s Survivor for kids. Mom and Dad get married, each bringing two kids into the marriage. They send the kids on a weekend sailing trip with their favorite Uncle Dex so they can “get to know each other.” But a sudden storm shipwrecks them and they end up STRANDED on an island alone. No adults. It’s the first of a trilogy. So far the early reads have been good and after only a few days we are already top 10 in children’s new releases. I say thank you to all of the loyal survivor parents and young Survivor fans! Oh – one other reason to give it a shot – we priced it to be very affordable at $6.99!! Even cheaper through Scholastic book club!
