tv shows i am watching (and you should also)

I love 2 Broke Girls!I originally only wanted to see it because of Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist,Defendor)who i love and adore!but then i just fell in love with the whole show!funny, real, and well cast. the funniest thing about this show is the two broke girls Max and Beth ,HAVE A CHAMPION RACE HORSE AS A PET! and if the sold it they wouldn't be broke and could really jump start their dream of owning a cupcake shop.
this is just a fun show!i want to buy storage lockers!you have the evil guy  David (who i would love to learn the business from)Darrell who is a veteran storage buyer, the young gun Jared and his attractive baby momma Brandy, with my favorite guy Barry (who is the most interesting person,i want to know more about him, like how many cars he owns, and all the stuff he has collected.)they say it is a scripted show and i don't care,it is just fun!
Nothing will make up for the loss of Charlie Sheen ,who with Jon Cryer are the show!but with Ashton Kutcher as Walden, it is making for some funny laughs.i give it a season and it will either end or Sheen will have to come back.(true)
I wanted to watch this because Stephen Lang (Tombstone)was in it,and i like the survival concept of man vs. just is a good show. i watch with my son Caleb.i wish they would make and sell the Terra Nova clothes in stores.
i wanted to see this one because my "dream girl" Zooey Dechanel ((500)Days of Summer) is the star of it ,and this has the best cast and i laugh and laugh with every episode. i love you Zooey!
The best show on T.V. (enough said) Kunal,Simon, and Johnny are needing some Awards!just saying
true fact i applied for Survivor once, after it first aired.i would love to go on this show, not for the money but just to see if i could do it!plus the should make a Survivor theme park!i would love to play all of the challenge games! hook me up!

Cycling Home From Siberia-book review

Imagine, you and nothing but your bicycle, along with the kindness of strangers, that you meet along the way,and everyday riding your bike in snow, rain,up big hills ect..well this is a wonderful, true adventure of Rob Lilwall and his 3 year bike journey from Sibiria all the way to England.i wish i could do a adventure like Rob,but i sure love to read about other people and their adventures.i highly recommend this book to all who love learning about different countries and the human spirit and the will to never give up.he also raised money along the way for a charity called Viva. The heart of Viva’s vision is to see children at risk kept safe and healthy, given opportunities to learn and allowed the chance to play an active part in shaping their own futures.

One Week Job-book and documentary review

just finished a good book and it's companion documentary that i picked up at my local library.  'ONE WEEK JOB'. it is about a guy Sean Aiken who graduated college, but did not know what he wanted to do for a career.he came up with  an idea to do a job a week for a whole year.that is 52 jobs my friends! he simply made a web page and then emailed and facebooked all of his friends and the jobs came. i thought the book would be have more detail as to all of the jobs.sometimes he only gives them a quick mention and Sean spends alot of time in his book and documentary talking about Danna,a girl he quickly fell in love with.both the book and  documentary are somewhat enjoyable but lacking in alot of  detailed content.i preferred the documentary over the book.but together they combine for a great adventure.i think everyone would benefit from checking out what Sean has may help you in trying to find your dream job!as i was reading and watching Sean,i kinda wish i could also have a job a week for a year!as i am only one of the many that do not know what to do when they grow up.

I am famous...yah right!

i had a mention in an article for the New York Observer on  May 26th titled Will Tweet for Work! How Not to Become a Personal Assistant

"Stephen Mayes (@stephenmmayes) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, fits into the latter category. He routinely tweets at celebrities like Lady Gaga and Kristen  Stewart, offering up his services as an assistant. In addition to running a movie blog called The Getting Spot, he purports to be a social media expert and notes on his Twitter bio: “Get to know me I am cool!” A dad of three who was laid off his job as a medical records clerk nearly two years ago, he dreams of a job that’s interesting and glamorous. “It would offer a better opportunity to travel and meet other people,” he told The Observer, “and maybe a better income than what I would have living in Idaho.” So far, none of the celebrities has taken Mr. Mayes up on his offer."

I had hoped it would have landed me a sweet job with some famous person or landed me on a few talk shows.but nothing ever happened.but i still feel like Charlie Bucket from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory hoping that someday i will get my Golden Ticket...........

possible dream jobs.

iCarly making fun of people with mental health illness?

In the recent episode of iCarly that aired on August 13th titled "iLost My Mind" that also guest starred Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) i was really bothered by how they  Portrayed people with Mental Health illness. It starts out with everyone trying to find Sam who has been missing for  3 days after she "kissed" Freddie .she checks herself in to a mental hospital because she is confused and crazy to have kissed Freddie.they use a cell phone tracking web service to locate Sam. they find out she is in the Troubled Waters Mental Hospital. The group goes to Troubled Waters to find Sam .and as i was watching this,(and i watch and enjoy iCarly with my 3 children ages 13,11,and 9) i was troubled myself as to see how they made fun of Sams problem and how they took what is a serious issue for many people and use it for a comedy sketch.

It was fun to watch Jim Parsons as Caleb who is a "guy from the future" but watching how the Hospital staff acted and how the iCarly gang had easy access to Sams room and also access to the patients in the Hospital, is not how it is in real life.i am sure many of  the young viewers have a family member who has Mental illness and what is that showing are children about the seriousness of Mental Illness? i guess this is a series of 4 episodes for this subject .

i hope that iCarly and Nickelodeon will take more caution in the future in how they show people with mental illness and how they will address it.

The Green Lantern

In brightest day, in blackest night / No evil shall escape my sight / Let all who worship evil's might / Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!

Stars:Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard

I loved this movie! this is like a recipe, with the right ingrediants to make such a wonderful this case you have great acting, action, romance, great story, visual effects. It Starts out with the story of a hot shot pilot named Hal Jordan played by Ryan Reynolds (the Proposal,Paper Man,Buried)who is chosen by the green light and is taken to a crash site of an dying alien.he is told that he is chosen to wear the ring and to take the green lantern.soon after he finds out he has special powers and is also chosen to be apart of intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe. he has to learn to overcome his fear and to except his responsibility to be the green lantern.

What i Liked: Peter Sarsgaard (An Education)gave an outstanding performance as Hector Hammond,in fact he should be awarded outstanding performance for his role.i also enjoyed watching Blake Lively(The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,Gossip Girl) and her role as Carol Ferris (i prefer her as a blonde) I also really enjoyed Ryan Reynolds .plus the realistic Aliens from the main planet of the green lantern. and the mix of comedy and how Hal had to struggle with overcoming fear.

What I didn't like: probably the scene with the Green Lantern and his first use of his powers.but if i had powers like he does i guess my choices would be alittle weird also.

I look forward to much anticipation to the sequel!

Friday, August 5, 2011

i was excited to check out this movie.i read that it was a low budget film, that it had won a bunch of was an o.k. movie, the "monsters"looked like giant octopus, the story never went into depth about how they are on the planet, not much action as to fighting was more of a travel type story that i felt like i was along for the ride.the female lead "Sam" played by Whitney Able is very pretty along with "Andrew"played by Scoot McNairy  led you on a trek of them trying to get from Mexico to the United States also you are hoping for a big romance between them but this movie that could have been so much better fell short of being great to just O.k. if you are bored one night and want to watch a movie that has a OK story and some OK acting then this is for you.if you are wanting alien vs. human battles with alot of action then stay away,it will not be for you.

3 movies that i thought sucked

Hangover 2
why didn't they just stop at the first one?the guys even took precautions to not get "roofied" but they got into trouble anyway.i just wish i was slipped a "roofie"during the show to forget that  i even saw it.what  a waste of time.i would have rather sat through another root canal.

Super 8

I thought it was kind of a cross between a Goonies and E.T. really i only watched it because everyone said it was so good? they obviously do not know what makes up a good movie.BUT  it did star Elle Fanning .I liked her acting, but she couldn't even make it a hit movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean
they should have stopped at the 3rd one, but they didn't?really i like the story of Jack Sparrow, but the only thing i liked, was the mermaid and that was because she was "hot"

avoid them,or at least wait until they come out on DVD and see for yourself.

Water for Elephants

this is a great movie!two of today's top actors Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson star in this great movie kind of in the lines of "The Notebook" it tells the story of a  veterinary student who abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet. I love Robert Pattinsons performance in this movie as a compassionate vet who falls for a married Reese Witherspoon.everyone would like this movie even though it is classified as a "chick flick".check it out.

From Prada to Nada

my daughters and i watched this movie.kind of a chick flick, but a fun movie to watch.we know from the title it is a "riches to rags"story like a Latina spin on Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility"as the IMDb says.Starring Camilla Belle as the modest law student Nora and her stuck up rich "bitch" sister Mary played by Alexa Vega.the sisters find out that what they believed before changes them in how they view their culture, heritage and career also stars Wilmer Valderrama as Bruno.check it out.

this is cool! what is a MacGuffin used for in movies?

A MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin) is a plot device that motivates the characters or advances the story, but the details of which are of little or no importance otherwise.
The element that distinguishes a MacGuffin from other types of plot devices is that it is not important what the object specifically is. Anything that serves as a motivation will do. The MacGuffin might even be ambiguous. Its importance is accepted by the story’s characters, but it does not actually have any effect on the story. It can be generic or left open to interpretation.
The MacGuffin is common in films, especially thrillers. Commonly, though not always, the MacGuffin is the central focus of the film in the first act, and later declines in importance as the struggles and motivations of characters play out. Sometimes the MacGuffin is all but forgotten by the end of the film.
Examples in film:

Morning Glory

I love fun movies!this one has it!not only do you have the beautiful Rachel McAdams, you also get Harrison Ford,Diane Keaton and Jeff Goldblum!the story has Becky (Rachel McAdams)a TV show producer, who gets fired from a promising job, only to be hired onto  a struggling show "Daybreak"Becky  has to prove to everyone she can turn this low rating show into a morning show everyone will want to watch each morning.
